The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for verifying customers' insurance. Setting and completing all aspects of an account for incontinence, diabetes, Insulin pump, CGM, urological, ostomy, wound care, blood pressure monitors, and enteral supplies for J&B Medical members.


Essential Functions:

  • Follows all policies and procedures as established by J&B Medical
  • Ethically assists patients with any necessary questions/concerns
  • Responsible for verification of all insurance products
  • Processes incoming verification tasks, prescriptions, referrals, restarts of accounts and insurance changes
  • Verifies address with member
  • Contacts clients, caregivers, and doctors to obtain client information if necessary
  • Collects and stores credit card information for co-pays
  • Loads insurance into account and builds skeleton account if needed
  • Researches insurance guidelines via Internet and/or provider materials
  • Submits reports to leaders as requested.

This is a full-time position, with a regular 40-hour work schedule. At times, overtime may be required.


Required Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in a Medical Billing role requiring patient insurance verification and account setup.
  • 2+ years of medical billing coding experience
  • Previous experience demonstrating the ability to follow multi-step procedures and apply attention to detail.
  • Possess the ability to use computer systems and maintain good records effectively.
  • Strong ability to handle multiple tasks at various stages of completion.
  • High school diploma or GED


Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Education in Medical Billing and Coding
  • DME is a PLUS
