Known for its exceptional customer service and commitment to safety, Horizon Air operates a fleet of regional jets that connect smaller communities to larger hubs, enhancing connectivity and convenience for travelers. As part of the Alaska Airlines family, Horizon Air shares a strong commitment to creating memorable experiences for passengers while maintaining rigorous safety standards. The flight attendant role at Horizon Air is a dynamic and essential position that goes beyond traditional customer service. Flight attendants serve as the face of Horizon Air, representing Alaska Airlines and delivering an authentic, gracious hospitality experience to every passenger. This full-time, union-represented position involves working regionally across multiple bases—including Seattle, Portland, Medford, Boise, Spokane, Anchorage, and Everett—and requires adaptability, flexibility, and a passion for travel. Compensation is competitive starting at $20.66 per hour in the first year, with additional benefits and bonuses outlined in the collective bargaining agreement. Flight attendants are responsible for ensuring passenger safety and comfort from boarding to arrival. Their duties include enforcing compliance with all safety regulations, performing safety equipment checks, demonstrating safety procedures, and effectively managing emergency situations if they arise. In addition to safety, flight attendants provide top-tier inflight service, including greeting passengers, assisting with seating, serving meals and beverages, and marketing onboard products such as meals and entertainment. Applicants must be able to pass a self-guided voice interview, complete four weeks of paid training in Portland, and meet strict grooming and appearance standards, including specific tattoo policies. They should have at least two years of customer or community service experience, demonstrate physical capability to perform flight attendant duties, and be willing to relocate to any flight attendant base. Flexibility to work varied schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays is essential, as is proficiency with basic computer technology and a high standard of English communication skills. Horizon Air’s flight attendants are expected to embody company values centered around safety, integrity, kindness, and performance. The airline offers numerous benefits such as free stand-by travel privileges on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, a generous 401(k) program with matching contributions, and paid time off including holidays.
