Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine.

Job Description

NBCUniversal is seeking a dedicated Production Support Engineer to join our dynamic Production Media Engineering group.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring seamless on-air productions by supporting all production systems and technology located at Versant Media's production facility in Washington DC and remote news gathering locations across Washington DC.

Partnering with our main production facilities in Englewood Cliffs, NJ and New York, NY supporting all Versant Media's networks.


You will be troubleshooting, diagnosing, and solving any technical issues that arise during live broadcasts and production tapings, including video, audio, transmission, and post-production systems.

This role is pivotal to Versant Media's commitment to deliver high-quality news, sports, and entertainment 24/7.

You will maintain the integrity of cutting-edge broadcasting technology and collaborate with Engineering and Operations to optimize broadcast workflows in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent experience supporting or designing live television production environments.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex audio/video workflows in SDI and IP (SMPTE 2110) environments.
Hands-on experience with HDSDI, AES, MADI, AES67, Ravenna, Dante, SMPTE-2110, and other analog/digital audio formats.
Experience with IP-based broadcast equipment, including routers, audio boards, signal processors, graphics systems, and playback systems.
Experience with Evertz products, including Magnum, EXE Routers, SDVN, VUE, and VIP.
Experience with video production systems, encoders/decoders, and studio equipment.
Strong understanding of audio systems, including Calrec, LAWO, RTS/Bosch/ClearCom, and ENCO.
Knowledge of production graphics platforms, including VizRT, Ross, and AR/VR systems.
Experience with SONY studio cameras, ross camera robotics, studio wireless/communications, and related studio systems.
Experience with wireless audio, Calrec Hydra, audience PA, and actors' call systems.
Solid grasp of TCP/IP protocols, computer networking, and storage infrastructures.
Experience with transmission systems, fiber, and encode/decode distribution and transport systems.
Exposure to cloud and VM-based applications and platforms.
Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings.
Proficiency with project and ticketing systems such as JIRA and Confluence.
Strong organizational and communication skills; client-focused with ability to prioritize on-air issues.
Capable of working independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced, live production environment.
Willingness to work rotational shifts, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
Flexible commute and travel availability to Versant Media locations in Washington DC.
Bachelor's degree in Film Production, Broadcasting, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, IT, or equivalent work experience in relevant industry.

Salary range:
$28-43/Hour (eligible for overtime)
