About the position The Pharmacy Benefits Specialist at Novant Health plays a crucial role in enhancing the pharmacy benefit experience for team members. This position involves analyzing pharmaceutical trends, managing pharmacy benefit contracts, and developing educational initiatives to improve understanding of pharmacy benefits. The specialist collaborates with various teams to ensure that pharmacy benefits align with strategic goals and supports the overall health and wellness of Novant Health employees. Responsibilities • Collaborate with the Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM), Benefits Consultant(s), and People and Culture to develop, implement, and administer the pharmacy benefit program. , • Support the Healthy Lifestyles Program (HLP) and other health and wellness benefit programs for Novant Health Team members. , • Analyze pharmaceutical trends, formularies, and drug utilization patterns to optimize cost-effective medication options while maintaining quality patient care. , • Conduct regular reviews of pharmacy benefit contracts, negotiate agreements to optimize cost savings, and assess contract performance metrics. , • Serve as the subject matter expert on pharmacy benefits and provide guidance to internal stakeholders regarding benefit coverage and medication-related inquiries. , • Develop and deliver educational programs or materials for employees and healthcare providers to enhance understanding of pharmacy benefits. , • Prepare and interpret pharmacy benefit data, analyzing and presenting findings to stakeholders to support decision-making and strategic planning. , • Ensure that the employee pharmacy benefit aligns with the pharmacy strategic plan. , • Partner with the PBM to develop and manage prior authorizations, step therapy programs, and medication adherence initiatives. , • Assist in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of vendors, software, or tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency in benefit administration. , • Participate in interdisciplinary teams to review and recommend changes to the formulary and coverage policies. Requirements • 4 Year Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD, required. , • Registered pharmacist with 5 years pharmacy practice experience, required. , • Licensed to practice pharmacy (RPh or PharmD) in the applicable state(s) and in good standing with the board of Pharmacy(ies), required. , • Two years of applicable pharmacy benefits, managed care, or applicable clinical and business experience; preferred.
